Root cause failure analyses are integral to all industries, from oil and gas, biomedical devices, and the food and beverage industry, to insurance claims and loss adjusting. People only start thinking about materials when they break. The purpose of the Root Cause Failure Analysis, Africa Conference is to enable awareness of the multitude of materials available to us, and to share experiences on root cause analyses.
One Eighty Materials Engineering was started up in 2002 by Dr. Janet Cotton and specialises in root cause failure analysis.
Dr Janet Cotton is thus privileged to host The Inaugural Root Cause Failure Analysis, Africa Conference.
For the Conference proceedings for The Inaugural Root Cause Failure Analysis, Africa Conference, One Eighty Materials Engineering herewith calls for paper submissions and welcomes all submissions written on any subject in the field of Root Cause Failure Analysis. The submissions can highlight any industry, or analytical tool, or methodology, or simulation, or simply demonstrate a sound and well carried out analysis that can be shared in a paper and/or presentation.
In addition to papers, poster presentations are also welcome. Abstract submissions should have a maximum of 300 words and poster submissions should not be longer than 200 words. Submissions are not restricted to scholars in the field of Root Cause Failure Analysis. Those from other fields are welcome to submit Papers/Posters Relevant to this call.

B. GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS FOR PAPERS / POSTERS
Proposals should address the theme and/or sub-themes, and should include the following:
- Title of Proposed Paper / Poster (Topic)
- Name(s) of Speaker(s)
- Speaker(s)’ Institutional Affiliation
- Speaker(s)’ Email Address, Telephone/Fax Number(s)
- Abstract of Proposed Paper (Not exceeding 300 Words)
- Short Professional Profile of Speaker(s) (not exceeding 100 words)
C. LENGTH OF PAPER/ POSTER PRESENTATIONS
- Papers should be 3,000 to 5,000 words long, submitted in word, using Times New Roman font style, 12pt font size, and double spaced. The paper must include an abstract and keywords.
- Posters should be made of innovative projects or best practices and should be the equivalent of A1 (841mmx594mm, 33.1inx23.4in) or A2 (420mmx594mm, 16.53×23.39in).
All presenters will be allowed twenty (20) minutes interactive PowerPoint presentations followed by five (5) minutes of questions/discussion.
NOTE: Presenters should ensure that papers submitted are original. Accepted papers will undergo peer-review processes and are expected to be published as part of the conference proceedings.
