What is 3.2 inspection and why is it so important?

Metallurgist and Materials Engineer Dr Janet Cotton explains what 3.2 inspection is, and why it us important, in this video. Dr Cotton founded One Eighty, Africa’s most scoped ISO 17025:2017 metallurgical and materials testing laboratory, in 2001.

In the marine and offshore field, it is often a requirement for 3.2 inspection to be done in order to remain in class.

3.2 inspection must be done by an ISO 17025-accredited laboratory.

One Eighty is uniquely Bureau Veritas Marine and Offshore approved, and the only materials testing lab in Africa that is a SASSDA (Southern African Stainless Steel Development Association) Member. We are also a member of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC)
