One Eighty Materials Engineering Solutions invites paper submissions for the 2nd Root Cause Analysis, Africa Conference. Taking place from the 10-11 March 2026 at Asara Wine Estate in Stellenbosch, Cape Town. This conference will serve as a platform to explore the diverse aspects of root cause  analysis and promote the exchange of knowledge across various industries.

Submission Details

We welcome all submissions on any subject within the field of Root Cause Analysis. Submissions can focus on:

  • Any industry application
  • Analytical tools and methodologies
  • Simulations
  • Case studies demonstrating well-executed analyses

Paper and Poster Presentations

  • Paper Presentations: Open to scholars and professionals from all relevant fields.
  • Poster Presentations: Specifically for undergraduate or Masters’ degree students. Posters will be displayed throughout the four days of the conference, with an opportunity for presenters to showcase their work to attendees.

Guidelines

  • Abstract Submissions: 500 – 1000 words
  • Student Abstracts: 200 – 500 words
  • Presentations: 20 minutes + 10 minutes Q&A
  • Students: A1 Poster + 10 minutes talk

  • Align with the Conference Theme: Ensure your topic addresses the main theme or sub-themes of the conference.
  • Be Specific: A focused topic that delves deeply into a specific aspect of root cause failure analysis will likely be more impactful than a broad overview.
  • Highlight Novelty: Emphasize what is new or unique about your approach, findings, or perspective.

Craft a Clear and Concise Abstract

  • Start Strong: Begin with a compelling opening that clearly states the purpose and importance of your work.
  • Be Concise: Keep your abstract within the 300-word limit, ensuring every word adds value.
  • Focus on Key Points: Clearly outline the main objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.

Highlight Your Credentials

  • Professional Profile: Provide a concise (not exceeding 100 words) and relevant professional profile for each speaker, emphasizing your expertise and experience in the field.
  • Institutional Affiliation: Clearly mention your institutional affiliation to lend credibility to your submission.

Prepare a Professional Poster or Presentation

  • Visual Appeal: Ensure your poster is visually engaging and easy to read from a distance.
  • Content Clarity: Use bullet points, charts, and graphics to convey information effectively.
  • Practice Your Pitch: Be prepared to present and discuss your poster concisely and confidently during the conference.

Follow Submission Guidelines

  • Adhere to the Format: Follow the provided guidelines for submission to avoid any disqualifications.
  • Proofread: Check for spelling and grammatical errors. A polished submission reflects professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Timely Submission: Ensure you submit your abstract and full paper/poster by the deadlines specified.

Seek Feedback

  • Peer Review: Have colleagues review your abstract and presentation materials to provide constructive feedback.
  • Revise and Improve: Use the feedback to refine and improve your submission.

Guidelines for Submission of Abstracts for Papers / Posters

Proposals should address the theme and/or sub-themes and should include the following:

  1. Title of Proposed Paper / Poster (Topic)
  2. Name(s) of Speaker(s)
  3. Speaker(s)’ Institutional Affiliation
  4. Speaker(s)’ Email Address, Telephone/Email Address
  5. Abstract of Proposed Paper (Not exceeding 300 words)
  6. Short Professional Profile of Speaker(s) (Not exceeding 100 words)

Length of Paper/Poster Presentations

  1. Papers: Should be 3,000 to 5,000 words long, submitted in Word format, using Times New Roman font style, 12pt font size, and double-spaced. The paper must include an abstract and keywords.
  2. Posters: Should be made of innovative projects or best practices and should be the equivalent of A1 (841mm x 594mm, 33.1in x 23.4in) or A2 (420mm x 594mm, 16.53in x 23.39in).

All presenters will be allowed twenty (20) minutes for an interactive PowerPoint presentation followed by five (5) minutes of questions/discussion.
