One Eighty is excited to welcome André Saayman to our team.

André is a Mechanical Engineer and certified International Welding Engineer (IIW-IWE) with many years of experience in Project Management and Quality Management, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Technical Services (Maintenance) and In-Service Inspection, specifically within the Power Generation sector. He was extensively involved during both the construction and maintenance phases of both the new-built fossil-fuel power station projects within the Republic of South Africa, namely Medupi and Kusile.

André specializes within the Welding Engineering discipline, with focus on a range of technology services including weld procedure development, welder– and welding operator qualifications, and weld quality management system implementation. He is experienced with both workshop fabrication and site installation works. He is comfortable in solving technical challenges pertaining to welding, quality and materials. He is conversant with the practical use of a range of industry standards including EN ISO, ASME, AWS and API.

He is a proud University of Pretoria (UP) Alumnus, having graduated with Bachelor of Engineering Honours in Welding Engineering.

André is furthering his studies through the American Petroleum Institute (API) in order to further specialize in the Petrochemical and LNG markets.  He aims to complete API 510, 570, 653 and 580 by June 2020. He will also complete his Professional Registration through ECSA in due course.

On a personal note, when André is not engaged in his working passion of Welding Engineering, he enjoys reading, travelling and fitness bodybuilding, to name a few.

With André joining the team at One Eighty, as our certified International Welding Engineer, One Eighty now serves a “one-stop-shop” for all Welding Engineering Services, including:

  • Weld Procedure Qualification
  • Welder Qualification
  • Development and writing of welding procedures
  • Managing the logistics and roll-out of the production of coupons
  • Conducting of all testing on coupons with our ISO-accredited testing facilities
  • Compiling of all weld procedure documentation
