One Eighty works in association with the following companies and institutions.

Cape Peninsula University of Technology
CPUT have a range of high tech laboratory equipment that provide complete materials testing solutions. One Eighty makes regular use of their metallographic microscopes, sample preparation equipment and mechanical testing apparatus which include:
  • Fatigue testing for medical devices and general engineering components
  • Tensile testing
  • Impact testing
  • Hardness testing
  • Immersion corrosion testing

  • University of Pretoria - Electron Microscope Unit
The University of Pretoria has a state of the art Field Emission Gun Scanning Electron Microscope, which allows for high resolution imaging of materials. Nano technology for example is a growing and exciting area of research and often requires the use of FEG SEM imaging. Additionally the EMU also houses transmission electron microscopes and scanning electron microscopes and One Eighty frequently make use of their services for the research and development projects.

    Stellenbosch University
Stellenbosch University house a Atomic Force Microsope (AFM) as well as a Scanning Near Field Optical Microscope (SNOM) which can be used to evaluate the surface roughness of materials on a micro scale. One Eighty frequently uses their services for the evaluation of wear surfaces of medical devices such as spinal discs.

    Advanced Materials Science
One Eighty often asks AMS to carry out accurate compositional analysis by means of ICP, AAS and spectrographic analysis. Additionally AMS also provide mechanical testing solutions.

    G2N Precision Engineering
G2N have considerable experience in high tech machining of a wide range of exotic engineering materials such as titanium alloys, cobalt chromium alloys, pure molybdenum as well as various composites and polymers. Consequently we place our trust in G2N to machine test samples from expensive materials perfectly each time. G2N also assist with machining up of test jigs when required, and cutting up of fracture surfaces for critical failure investigations.

Finite Element Analysis Services (Pty) Ltd
One Eighty often contracts FEAS for finite element analysis work when a detailed stress analysis is required for a specific project.

University of Cape Town - Electron Microscope Unit
UCT EMU house a range of electron microscopes which we frequently make use of.

University of Cape Town - Centre for Materials Engineering
The Centre for Materials Engineering house various wear testing equipment, corrosion testing and mechanical testing devices.
